This image was taken from the window of my hotel room in Calcutta. A narrow alley separated the hotel from this teal-colored building next door. This pigeon couple were roosting just a few feet from my window, and their cooing and flapping wings were the dominant sound. Although their little shelf is covered with pigeon droppings, and although pigeons are ubiquitous throughout the cities of the world (and are even something of a nuisance), I grew attached to this particular pair.
