The Falgu (or Phalgu) River, which is also called the Niranjana, is the river that flows past Bodhgaya. This bridge crosses to a village that is known as "Sujata's village." Sujata is the young girl who offered the starving Siddhartha some rice milk. After accepting this offering, and thereby recovering his strength, he then took his seat under the bodhi tree, determined to not rise until he had "clarified the Great Matter." A large stupa was built in the village during the Gupta Dynasty.
